The footage of Harris showing off classic vinyl—albums one would expect a tweenty year old to admiringly “discover”, or perhaps a woman of Harris’s age to be purchasing for her niece—was incredibly lame and does not bode well for the quality of her campaign. It would have played better if she came out with the Jackie Brown soundtrack and kept it simple.
On to other thoughts, your voice is lovely and lively, if not everyone’s cup of artisan roast.
So well said, Nancy. I'm glad you watched all those cooking videos so I don't have to!
Harris has so much to answer for, not least of which is clearing seeing and knowing about Biden's decline and saying and doing nothing, putting herself and her party ahead of the country. And then there are her actions in California as a prosecutor and Attorney General.
So much of this seems to be about "Anyone but Trump", as many have noted.
As much as I fear a Harris presidency, I want to see Biden resign -- he clearly isn't and can't execute the office, and he swore an oath to do so. It's not enough to decline (way too late) to run. Let Harris be President until 20 Jan 2025 and we'll see what happens.
Partly since I remember watching live the events of 9 August 1974, I suggest Biden choose 9 August 2024, the 50th anniversary of the first and only Presidential resignation, as an appropriate date to resign.
There are some distant comparisons with 1968 -- as a 10th-11th grader that year, it's probably the year I started paying more attention to politics. 3 broadcast TV channels, public TV was limited, no cable TV, I don't remember much about radio. How different from the myriad of choices today.
I was a pup in the 6th grade for the '68 election. I remember the televised chaos of the convention while being years from understanding it. I was in the tenth grade for the next go-round and was a little more cognizant of the youth, the energy the "passion", how this time would be different, someone who really stood for something...
The binding primaries sounded good at first blush but rather fomenting a more informed, conscientious selection, it turned the process over to activists. Dems walked right into a buzz saw and lost 49 states.
VP picks have always been about demographics, balancing the ticket, but I'm not the only one, and this includes observers far more sophisticated than moi, that have viewed Harris more as a result of Biden's slavish devotion to identity politics than as someone ready to run the show. I hope my doubts go unrealized. I had hoped for an open convention with Harris as one of a few contenders, rather than a coronation, but it looks too late for that now. Maybe she can get her sea legs and, critically, work with some solid, experienced staffers that she listens to. Or maybe we're in for a mud-wrestling match.
To be fair, the Republican convention was occasion for the MSM to write fawning pieces about someone who really did sleep her way to the top only to crap on the office of the First Lady, Melania Knauss Trump.
They do this 24-7 because "Anyone But Trump." And I mean anyone.
“…snorting up crumbs…” lol I’m screaming!

And double m dashes in a sentence: wonderful!

But does she have the same ice cream as Nancy Pelosi?
Gas stove. SMH
