Hi Nancy, I'm sorry for blowing you up lately with long comments. Your reporting gives me a lot to chew on, and it feels safer at times to push back on people that think similarly to you...so I hope you can see my comments in that light.

Between your comments in this LIVE video and the 2-way a bit after, I would love to pick your brain on the immigration "illegals" stuff.

I grew up and "live" (loosely) in Arkansas. We have a large immigrant community b/c of Walmart/Chicken industry, but its also the South and conservative, and I know its different than how Californians see things.

In the 2-way conversation you pushed back on classifying people as "illegals" and seemed to roll your eyes at the idea that people that came here illegally have broken a law already. At the start of this video, you talk about how Californians "don't want their neighbors pulled away" and don't seem to put much weight to the idea that the feds are legally allowed to deport people that came into the country illegally.

For context that I think would help you understand me, I feel closest to KMW of the Reason Roundtable dudes (pretty sure she won't mind me using that term). In my opinion, anarchy could work, but I also don't want to just burn it all down. I am choosing to live in a country of more laws than I would like and while I might not like the laws, I understand if I break them, there are consequences.

We live in a society (world) that for some dumb reason is anti-immigration (both right and left, I think you'd agree with that statement). You say that the people of LA are out protesting FOR something, but I see them protesting for the status quo at best...which is leave millions of people in limbo. They aren't protesting for a positive thing, which to me, is give all these people citizenship. I'd be for that...but I'm not sure they want that...and they know that that wouldn't pass public opinion and they aren't libertarian...so they care about public opinion.

I have been trying to come up with a better analogy, but this the best I've been able to come up with, so I hope you can give me some grace and see what I'm trying to say. When I was underage, I thought the rules to get into bars were not correct (21 to get in but 18 I'm an adult). So I'd sneak in to bars, use fake IDs, etc...and if I got caught, I didn't protest that it was my right to be there...I just left b/c I knew I was breaking the rules and I got caught. If I did protest, and I got arrested...the next day (after the beer wore off), I didn't blame the police and the establishment....I knew I'd fucked up.

As an open border person and fairly anarchist...I say...hell yeah, try to bend the rules and get away with things...but you have to realize that isn't the society we live in and there are consequences to those actions.

I would ask you, what do you think should be done? And what do you think the people in LA want to be done...Make everyone legal? (which again, I'd be for, I just don't hear anyone saying what the solution is).

Be safe Nancy. I worry about you out there covering riots in a skirt while carrying only reporter’s notebook and a phone.
