Gee, that Nancy lady usually sends the Paloma Media round-up on Sundays. Wonder what happened?
One word answer: COVID! Mild, but groggy-making enough that I got my days mixed up. So, a late check-in! I hope you, your family and friends had a wonderful and wondrous holiday, instead of succumbing, as we did, to the infect-o-rama that was a pre-Christmas holiday bash. Here’s what else we did last week!
S.W. Lauden wrote about what he learned while watching the new Vonnegut and Beatles docs (“So It Goes & Let It Be”), we bid farewell to Joan Didion, and I read for you my pocket-memoir, “The Queens of Montague Street.”
Bill Schulz did a “Running Commentary: Scrooged Edition,” Scott Ross asked “Can We Please Put Scott Rolen in the Hall of Fame Already?” And we linked Kerry Howley’s tremendous piece for New York magazine, about what three January 6 insurrectionists wanted - what they lost.
Our Persons of the Day included Carla Bruni, the Brothers Gibb, and JC with a basketball, because why not?
And Matt Welch and I sang a Christmas (?) song for our Patreon subscribers, which, in the spirit of the season, we shared with all. “They’re going to pay us not to do this,” Matt said, when we finished. Prove him wrong!
Sending all good tidings for this last week of 2021, I cannot say she’s been the kindest of years, but we are all here and for that, I am thankful xx
Happy that you are feeling better, Nancy! Love you guys, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Spokane, WA.
