Thank you for reading Make More Pie. As a token of our appreciation, we're offering a limited-time offer of 20% off a paid subscription.
But Nancy, what do I get for muh money?
Well, you get all the subscriber-only posts and access to the full archive, and the chance to post comments and mix with the community. Plus I have been known to send homemade baked goods to a founding member or three.
Thank you so much! Let’s do some reporting and make more pie, and about that: I was at a Substack meet-up a few months ago, where as you checked in they handed you one of those paper-tags that never stick to my blouse and asked us to write on it our names and the names of our Substacks. The New York Times was there and took a photo of me, which was nice…
I was also approached by a half-dozen other Substackers, telling me they, too, wrote food newsletters, and what was mine about, and had I, like them, tired of the whole sourdough thing? In reverse order I answered that I’d never started the whole sourdough thing, and that I mostly write about conflict and sometimes murder and always about people and their stories, and that “make more pie” refers not to actual pie - though I do bake a lot of those - but the idea that there is not one pie we divide into smaller slices, we just make more pie. At which some of them said, “Huh,” and others offered to swap recipes. So we did that.
Hey Nancy! I’m so excited I can afford to subscribe. For the Whole year! Thanks for being you
I love that they were confused.
